Homesteading Programs
Next week is a big week for our adult patrons! We have three programs, two of which cover homesteading topics!
On Tuesday, August 27th at 6:30 pm, Wes Wolken will be doing a presentation on Bee Keeping. He will be discussing how to take care of bees, how to start bee keeping yourself, their importance to our environment, and, if we are lucky, a little taste of honey! We had Wes out last year and had a great time learning from him. We are looking forward to having him again.
On Thursday, August 29th at 6:30pm, Catherine Johnson of the Sedgwick County Conservation District will be at the Mulvane Public Library to teach us about composting. Topics will include: types of bins, where to locate a backyard compost bin, what to put in your bin and what not to, harvesting compost, compost tea, and alternatives to backyard composting. Gluten Free compost cupcakes will be served! This event is open to teens (grades 6-12) and adults. Registration is not required, but if we run out of cupcakes, those who registered will be honored first.
To register for this program, you can visit our circulation desk or call the library at 316-777-1211.
And don’t forget! Brooke Stahly will be teaching us about travel tips on Monday, August 26th at 6:30 for our computer class. Hope to see you there too!
