New Catalog!!! Introducing KanShare…

The Mulvane Public Library is pleased to announce it is now part of the KanShare Catalog and Library Consortium.  This library partnership includes:  Andover Public Library, Augusta Public LIbrary, Derby Public Library, El Dorado Library (Bradford Memorial Library), Goddard Public Library, Park City Public Library, and Rose Hill Public Library.  What does this mean to our patrons…

  • Access to all 8 Libraries and their collections with one library card!
  • Collections all searchable through the one catalog called KanShare.
  • Availability to pick-up and drop-off materials at any location. *Exceptions are large items like activity bags and cake pans, which must be picked-up and returned to the loaning library.
  • Speedier delivery of materials from KanShare Libraries.
  • Increased borrowing limits of materials in an effort to align borrowing rules across KanShare Libraries.

To log into your account:  username=card number and password=last 4 digits of your phone number (# listed on your library account).

Once the Mulvane Public Library reopens, we will offer an “overdue fine forgiveness” period of two weeks.  During this period, you would need to call or visit to update your info.  In return, the Library will delete all overdue fines.  Stay tuned for our reopening date and fine forgiveness dates!

Library Closed Until Further Notice

It is with a heavy heart that the Mulvane Public Library shuts down its physical location, effective immediately (March 18th), until further notice. Our dedicated staff made an effort to stay open longer than many libraries in our area, but cannot in good conscience do so any longer after recommendations to close by the American Library Association and many others. As this virus gains traction, germs may be spread by interactions with others, but possibly through the sharing of materials. The Library cannot risk the lives of its beloved community members, as much as we cherish our physical books. However, we can still share our love of literature and learning, as well as foster connections with the community. The Library will do this through Facebook Live programming (yay, Miss Victoria with Storytimes), increase availability of digital materials, and continue to share valuable online resources to families.

*Please note that fines and overdue materials will be taken care of, but if you need assistance accessing online materials or have questions, private message us or email asst.director@mulvanelibrary.org. We will continue to check messages regularly, as many of us work off-site.

Irish Dancing with Corry Academy

The whole family is invited to watch Irish Dancing on Monday, March 16th at 6:30 pm! Dancers are from the Corry Academy of Irish Dance. They will have just finished a National Competition. The dance school is just north of Wichita and focuses on preserving Irish dance, culture, and traditions.  This will be a fun way to celebrate before St. Patrick’s Day and learn more about the Irish culture.
