Springtime Storytime!
DON’T FORGET TO PICK UP YOUR TAKE HOME CRAFTS FOR THE WEEK! This week you will be making a beautiful Spring flower!
For Storytime we read “When Spring Comes” by Kevin Henkes, and “In Like a Lion Out Like a Lamb” by Marion Dane Bauer.
Yay! Spring has finally arrived! There is so much happening in nature right now!
One of the best things you can do with your child to celebrate Spring is to go for a nature walk. Notice the buds on the branches of trees, flowers beginning to bloom, perhaps even baby birds in a nest!
When you get home have your child draw what they discovered!
- Another fun idea is to use broccoli to paint flowers. Just pour out some paint onto a paper plate and then dip the broccoli in the paint. Smoosh the broccoli onto paper, and ta-da! You just made a beautiful Spring flower!
- Make coffee filter butterflies! Paint a regular coffee filter with bright and fun colors. Let it dry completely. Then gather the filter in the middle and pinch it so it looks as if there are wings. Take a pipe cleaner and fold it in half. Place it over the filter so the bended part of the pipe cleaner is where you have the filter pinched. Twist the pipe cleaner so that it holds the filter in place, with wings on either side. The remaining part of the pipe cleaner is the antennae!
